Private Label Golf Shoes: How to Launch Your Own Brand (Step-by-Step OEM Guide)

Golf shoe sole pressing in the factory

Private label golf shoes let you sell under your own brand without owning a factory or a design team. With the right manufacturing partner, you can go from idea to a finished, branded collection in a few months. This step-by-step guide explains the process, the options and the mistakes to avoid.

OEM, ODM and private label — what's the difference?

  • OEM / private label: you start from a manufacturer's proven model and customize it — your logo, your colors, your packaging. This is the fastest and lowest-risk way to launch.
  • ODM: the manufacturer develops a new design based on your brief, sketch or reference photos.

Most new brands start with OEM on two or three proven models, then add ODM designs once they know their customers.

Step 1: Choose your base models

Pick models that match your target customer and price point. A balanced starter collection might include:

Step 2: Decide where your logo goes

Common logo positions on golf shoes include:

  • Tongue — the most visible spot in product photos
  • Heel and side panel — visible when the golfer walks
  • Insole — a premium touch customers see every time they put the shoe on
  • Rotary dial cap — a modern, distinctive branding spot
  • Outsole and spike plate — subtle, durable branding

Two or three logo positions are usually enough. Too many logos can make a shoe look cheap.

Step 3: Customize colors and materials

You can create your own colorways from an existing model — upper color, lining, laces or dial, midsole and outsole. Matching the outsole color to your brand color is a simple way to make a stock design feel unique.

Step 4: Design your packaging

Packaging is part of the product for online sellers. Plan:

  • Branded shoe box (printed or with a label)
  • Tissue paper, hang-tags and care cards
  • Barcodes (EAN/UPC) and marketplace labels if you sell on platforms such as Amazon
  • Carton marks for your warehouse

Step 5: Approve samples

Your manufacturer makes pre-production samples with your logo and colors. Check fit, logo placement, color accuracy and packaging. Request changes until you are fully satisfied — this is the cheapest moment to fix anything. At XiangChi, samples take about 15 days.

Step 6: Confirm the order and size ratio

Confirm quantities per model, color and size. Our sizing guide explains how to plan a size ratio so you do not end up with unsold extreme sizes. For custom orders with your logo, our MOQ starts from 300 pairs.

Step 7: Production, inspection and shipping

Bulk production takes about 35 days after sample approval and deposit. Before shipping, pairs are inspected and packed with your branded packaging and carton marks. Then your order ships to your port, warehouse or fulfillment center.

Plan your launch at least one season ahead. For a spring launch, many brands finalize samples in the autumn or early winter.

Common private label mistakes

  • Launching too many styles at once. Start focused; add styles as data comes in.
  • Skipping the pre-production sample. Always approve the sample with your final logo and colors.
  • Ignoring packaging lead time. Printed boxes need artwork approval too.
  • Copying other brands' designs or trademarks. Your logo and brand name should be your own and, ideally, registered in your sales markets.
  • Forgetting the women's market. A well-chosen women's style can set your brand apart.
